“Chinese Journal of Environmental Engineering” is an academic journal (monthly) supervised by Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), sponsored by Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, CAS and published by Science Press. The journal was found in 1980 with the name of “Comments on Environmental Studies in China”. It was renamed as “Advances in Environmental Science” and “Techniques and Equipment for Environmental Pollution Control” in 1993 and 2000, respectively. And it has been renamed as “Chinese Journal of Environmental Engineering” since 2007.

“Chinese Journal of Environmental Engineering” is a national key journal and one of authoritative journals in the field of environmental science and engineering in China. It has a considerable significance in the circles of environmental science and technology in the country. The journal is included in some important retrieval systems and citation databases at home and broad, such as “Chemical Abstracts(CA)” of American Chemical Society, "Scopus" of  Elsevier Company, "Chinese Science and Technology Paper Citation Database(CSTPCD)",“China Journal Full-text Database(CJFD)" and “Chinese Science Citation Database(CSCD)".

The aim of the publication of “Chinese Journal of Environmental Engineering” is “to promote the high level academic exchanges in environmental engineering field at home and abroad”.

The main columns of the journal include: reviews, water pollution prevention and control, air pollution prevention and control, soil pollution prevention and control, noise pollution prevention and control, solid waste treatment and disposal,  environmental monitoring techniques, and ecological remediation engineering, etc.
