  • In order to investigate the optimum conditions for biomass pyrolysis, wood shatters as raw material and quartz sand as heat medium, the system of rapid pyrolysis of biomass with a rotating cone reactor was established. The single factor experiment is based on four main factors (pyrolysis temperature, vacuum, rotation speed of the cone disc, diameter of materials) to the orthogonal experiment. The results indicated that the optimal conditions for pyrolysis of biomass were rotating rate of 115 r/min, temperature of 550℃, volume rate of 0.08 MPa and diameter of materials less than 30 mesh with the condition of sawdust humidity at 8.2%, heat quantity of 1 200 g and material-feeding rate of 4 kg/h. Under the optimal experimental condition the highest oil production rate was 54.83%. The experimental study showed that selfrotating cone pyrolysis reactor on biomass pyrolysis technology was feasible.
