This study conducted a bibliometric analysis on the research dynamics of the environmental and health risks of BFRs by using CiteSpace software, and obtained the research advances, hot topics and the evolution of knowledge topics in this field. It was found that the research in this field showed a trend of rapid growth in recent years. Both China and the United States exhibited prominent influences in this field. The detection and distribution of typical BFRs in the environment, the spatial and temporal distribution trends of BFRs pollution, as well as the toxicity effects, exposure and risk assessment of BFRs have been identified as the popular research topics in this field. Comprehensive contamination tracing, health effects research and risk management are expected to be the focus of future researches. It is recommended to strengthen the attention to the environmental health risks of BFRs, especially new BFRs and their substitutes. Besides, comprehensive risk assessment researches should be carried out as well.
