Influencing factors of hydrogen producing by photosynthetic bacteria using biogas slurry

  • Biogas slurry utilization will become a hot issue in a few years. In this work, process conditions of hydrogen produced by photosynthetic bacteria using biogas were first studied, such as pretreatment time of biogas slurry, illumination, temperature, pH value and inoculum size. The results showed that the maximal hydrogen production reached 500 mL H2/(200 mL biogas slurry) at the optimum conditions: temperature of 35℃; illumination of 1 000 lux; pH of 9; inoculum size of 50%; pretreatment time of 24 h in the anaerobic-light cultivation. This work could provide significant scientific reference value for further biological hydrogen production from biogas slurry.

Abstract: Biogas slurry utilization will become a hot issue in a few years.
