  • Attapulgite was organically modified using hexadecylguanidine salt. The pristine and modified attapulgite powders were characterized by IR,XRD,SEM,TG and BET. The results showed that the main interaction mechanisms between attapulgite surface and hexadecylguanidine salt were electrostatic adsorption. Although the porosity and specific surface of modified attapulgite decreased,the decolorization rate of methyl orange was improved greatly. The decolorization rate increased from 3% to 98%.
