  • An innovative ozoneinitiated disinfection system was developed against the problem of microbe growth in aboveground swimming pools. Effects of ozone dose, circulating water flow and running time on disinfection of water in a 21.2 m3 aboveground swimming pool were investigated. The sterilization rates of total bacteria and Escherichia coli groups reached above 99% under the optimal operational conditions: 3 PEM electrolyzing ozone generators, the circulating water flow of 4 m3/h with a running time of 12 hours. Compared with the salt electrolysis water treatment system, the ozoneinitiated disinfection system is more effective at the beginning of operation, much safer with more stable effluent quality, and more profitable with lower operation costs.

Disinfection of water in aboveground swimming pools using PEM electrolyzing ozone generators

Abstract: An innovative ozoneinitiated disinfection system was developed against the problem of microbe growth in aboveground swimming pools.
