Abstract: For the purpose of finding a more effective way to remove nitrate contaminants in wastewaters,a study on the denitrification of the high nitrogen living contamination water through utilizing the three stages series constructed rapid infiltration system was carried out, and the features of the microorganism distribution within the system were discussed. Resulting from the comparison of the different microorganism distributions between traditional constructed rapid infiltration system and the three stages series constructed rapid infiltration system, the removal rates of NH+4-N and TN are enhanced by 5% and 21% respectively in the three stages series constructed rapid infiltration system. And the total number of bacteria, including nitrobacteria and denitrifying bacterium, in the three stages constructed rapid infiltration system is larger than those in the traditional constructed rapid infiltration system. The main reason for the improvement of the remove rate of TN is that the number of denitrifying bacterium is increased significantly. In addition, the three stages constructed rapid infiltration system could ease the congestion phenomenon effectively.
