Treatment of acidic lead-containing wastewater by depositing together with barium salt

  • The environmental pollution caused by the complex solution containing sulphate and chlorinate is serious, and it is difficult to dispose it directly. Barium carbonate has been used to remove lead by depositing together with lead sulphate. The results showed that lead ion in lead-containing wastewater could be removed effectively when barium carbonate co-depositing method was adopted. But the removal effect was mainly impacted by complexation degree between Pb2+ and Cl- in effluent, and was little affected by reaction time, temperature, and aging time. Thus, this kind of technology is prone to realize in industry. The result showed that the lead contained in the acidic wastewater containing sulphate and chlorinate was less than 0.5 mg/L after being treated by adding barium salt.
