Recovery of polyvinyl alcohol from dyeing wastewater by flocculation method

  • The recovery of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) from dyeing wastewater by flocculation method is investigated. The obtained sodium sulfate through acid alkali relation was used as salt agent. The boric acid was used as flocculation agent. The influencing factors of PVA recovery were analyzed through the detection of PVA content in flocculation solution. Optimal conditions of the recovery were as follows: boric acid dosage of 0.5 g, sulfuric acid of 5 mL, pH value of 9, and temperature of 50℃. PVA recovery rate is as high as 98.6% and the COD elimination rate is 93% under the optimal conditions.
