Abstract: In this study, the optimum sintering temperature and firing temperature range of ceramic bricks were determined by both DTA-TGA analysis and firing experiment, and results were compared. Performance and leaching toxicity were analyzed on ceramic bricks made in accordance with different ratios of materials and fired at their optimum firing temperatures. The result showed that firing temperature derived from DTA-TGA analysis was slightly over that derived from firing experiment. Addition of MSWI(municipal solid waste incineration) fly ash was conducive to reduction of the optimum firing temperatures which were 1 132、1 031 and 985℃,respectively for ceramic bricks with fly ash addition registering at 10%, 20% and 30%. The bricks reached MU20 degree in terms of compressive strength and met requirements for weathering resistance. In addition, leaching toxicity of the ceramics was far below that for hazardous wastes.
