  • Nano-sized SiO2-Cu2O complex oxides were prepared and characterized. The photocatalytic degradation of the reactive brilliant red X-3B over the SiO2-Cu2O was investigated under the irradiation with visible light. The effects of composition, the different dye concentrations, the amount of catalyst used, and the presence of H2O2 were studied. The photocatalytic kinetics of the X-3B over the SiO2-Cu2O were also studied. The results showed that the degradation rate of X-3B over the SiO2-Cu2O with the 2% molar content of SiO2 was 85% after 4 h,and the degradation of X-3B followed the firstorder kinetic.
