Abstract: Crude oil was used as the sole source of carbon to isolate and screen six bacterium strains for degrading oil from oil-polluted soil. Six strains were named as SY1 to SY6, respectively. The factors influencing biodegradation of crude oil were studied by sole factor experiment for six strains, such as initial pH values, temperature, oxygen demanded(shaker rotary speed), salt concentration, nitrogen source, phosphorous source, and so on. The results showed that six strains grew well and degraded oil effectively, their degrading rate was more than 50%, when initial pH values were 7~9, temperature was 30℃ and the shaker rotary speed was 180 r/min. Six strains grew well when the salt concentration was 1%. SY3 strain and SY4 strain could grow in salt concentration over 10%, so they had salt tolerance. The available nutrients were NH4Cl and K2HPO4, KH2PO4. The results may provide microorganism bases to treat oily sewage.
