Abstract: The effect of low concentration atrazine impact on the running stability of A/O process was discussed in this paper. And the feasibility of enhancing the treatment of low concentration atrazine through optimizing operation parameters was also analyzed. Results showed that, compared with the activity of carbon oxidation, atrazine showed much more strong inhibition to nitrification activity of actived sludge. Meanwhile, ammonia nitrogen produced by the metabolites of atrazine also increased system loading which leads to a low level of ammonia nitrogen removal rate. Treatment of low concentration atrazine could be enhanced through optimizing A/O operation parameters. The optimized reflux ration of nitrate solution was 200%, and volumetric ratio of anaerobic section/aerobic section was 1∶3. Under this running condition, the pollutants were efficiently removed, and the system can steadily run.
