  • Nanoscale zero-valent iron(NZVI)was prepared with a method of reduction in liquid phase by the reaction of FeSO4 and KBH4,and characterized by XRD, SEM and BET. The reduction of p-CNB at ambient temperature and pressure and the effects of system parameters were investigated. The results indicated that the adding of NaOH in preparation could decrease the particle size, increase the specific surface area and improve the efficiency of reduction obviously.NZVI possessed good removal effect of p-CNB, the quality of NZVI, the initial concentration of p-CNB and pH all had impacts on the reduction. Under pH 2, after 120 mins of reaction, the efficiency can reach 98.8% when the quality of NZVI which contains NaOH is 1.0 g/L and the initial concentration of p-CNB is 50 mg/L. In addition, preliminary mechanisms of the reduction were discussed briefly.
