Abstract: In this paper, the dechlorination of 3-chlorophenol (CP), 2, 4-dichlorophenol (DCP) and 2, 4, 6-trichlorophenol (TCP) by ultrasound (US) and zero valent iron (Fe0) was investigated. The influences of iron addition, power of ultrasound, initial concentration of phenols and pH values of solution on dechlorination efficiency were tested and the kinetics of dechlorination was discussed. It was shown that the dechlorination by US/Fe0 was significant in general. When the initial concentration of phenols was 25 mg/L, the pH values of solution was weak acid, and the power of ultrasound was 200 W, the efficiency of dechlorination was up to the biggest value. The dechlorination reaction was a pseudofirst-order reaction and the rate constants were 0.0613 h-1, 0.374 h-11 and 0.197 h-1 for CP, DCP and TCP, respectively.
