Abstract: The Fenton reagent is adopted to treat the high concentration reed pulp black liquor and the order of the influence power of various factors to the black liquor COD removal rate resulted from the orthogonal experiment is as follows: pH>[H2O2]>[Fe2+]>reaction time. The optimal operation condition is pH=4, [H2O2]=0.088 mol/L, [Fe2+]=14.39 mmol/L and the reaction time=40 min. The COD removal rate of the wastewater can reach more than 80% and the chroma and mud removal rate can reach 96% under the above conditions. The kinetics study shows that the apparent process of the preliminary treatment of the high concentration reed pulp black liquor by Fenton reagent is approximately in consistent with the first order reaction rule. The biodegradability index BOD/COD is increased from 0.303 to 0.558 averagely after the treatment.
