  • The main harm of harmful cyanobacterial bloom (HCB) is releasing a great amount of algal toxins mainly containing microcystins (MCs). The presence of MCs in drinking water may lead to the cancer of human beings, which threatens the health of people. In this paper, the advances in the studies on bacteria, pathwaies, enzymes and genes for the biodegradation of MCs were reviewed.
